Sophie Timmins Thomson

 

Solicitor and Mediator 

Sophie has been with the firm here in Walcha for the last 15 years. In 2015 she became a member of the Resolution Institute holding National Accreditation in Mediation.

 

Since 2018 she has been on the Family Law Settlement Service (FLSS) panel for the Law Society of New South Wales.

Sophie has gained experience working across various jurisdictions and has a special interest in rural clients and their needs.

Her main focus in her practice is her clients and their individual needs. Her diversity of knowledge allows diversity of practice.

 

Sophie’s patience and ability to communicate openly with clients and forward thinking approach to practice, means that you will always get a confident and direct approach.

 

Sophie was admitted to practice in August 1997 after a number of years working in her family’s practice specialising in Family and Criminal Law. While completing her degree Sophie worked in Windeyer chambers for various members of the Bar and as fill-in Clerk of the floor.

 

She then spent three years overseas working as a Strategic Manager for an AIDS Organisation in the UK and ran a course at Oracle (in Germany) teaching Lawyers negotiation skills.

Following a short stint as a tour guide (using her first Degree in Leisure and Tourism) she returned to Australia.

James Levingston

Consultant
James joined the firm and finished his legal training while working for Patterson Byfield and Bryen. He was admitted to practice in 1977. He was trained by Ken Byfield, one of the original partners. Along with Owen Sweeney, James has served the Walcha Community all his professional life. Out of the office James is a Rotarian. He has over his career held many Directorships and is a lay preacher. There is not much James doesn’t know about the lands in and around the New England.

Doug Timmins

Consultant Counsel

Mr Timmins has been a Legal Practitioner since 1964. He ran Western Sydney Largest Suburban Practice for many years as a solicitor advocate before being called to the bar. He enjoyed his time in Windeyer Chambers in Macquarie Street for a further 25 years. Mr Timmins provides advice on a regular basis  and runs, on application, our defended criminal hearings.

Support Staff

Personal but confidential all our support staff are locals. They have been supporting the professional staff since they left school.
